Let's Celebrate Comicology

Making Comics Do you wanna get a ride to the mystic adventures, Sci-Fi scenarios, awe-inspiring action sequences, and in the process ignite your imagination, beyond the boundaries laid by the movies? The answer to that is certainly the World of Comics.

Often people tend to shun out the comics as kiddish, but they would also be the people who would watch on the Spiderman, Superman, Batman series on Theatre complexes, which is just a take-off from the wealth offered through Comics. Comics is a wonderful world of fantasies, where you experience the plot the way you want-it-to-be and your imagination kicks ahead with you living in the field virtually (far more than what captured in Movies).

Comics on Stands I was bitten by comic bug when I was 6, and learned to read my mother tongue, Tamil, by reading the Rani Comics, Lion Comics, and Muthu Comics, which were introduced to me back then by my elder brother. I grew into the habit, slowly over-taking even my elder brother, and since have moved on to as a serious collector, who cherishes collecting these wonderful artefacts celebrating the glorious method of picture based story-telling.

Indias Virgin ComicsOff late, I see a lot of interest towards Comics in India, an often ignored market, without getting its due credit among it counterparts in Arts. With the release of Gotham Comics, Iceberg Comics, Star Comics, Euro Books, and not to forget the ever enduring Lion-Muthu Comics & Raj Comics. There is a unique cult following for these comics in the market, which has been observing a wide variety of readers in the age groups ranging from 5 to 50+.

I believe Comics, is a branch of knowledge, a way of learning, an artistic science to be precise, coining the term "Comicology", and this is a blog which is a tribute to those comics which are published in India, or the ones we have access to. Overall, it’s a Study of the wonderful medium, called Comics, which is famously called as ‘The 9th Art’, to have known to human beings, ever.

I will also try bringing in other fellow readers and comic stalwarts, to be part in this initiative, to keep the Comikers abreast of the happening on the Comics Blogosphere, in and around them.

Come and join me in this great journey, as we celebrate our most unique passion, Comicology.
