I have fond memories of the Comedy Colonel Title released in Tamil Comics, about which a blog post is pending for long at Comicology. I will try to get it done sooner.

@ Anony: Even though it is not a surprise, XIII Specials release date is now moved to Jan 2010. The news is that the bookings were not up to the desired level, so the production works have been slowed with a new revised target.

Seems we would have to wait for longer. As if it is new for Tamil Comic fans :)

Comdey Colonel was one of my favourite on mini lion. It was published around the peak period of the boom in the comics industry. I would be most delighted to buy this set of books. Thanks for the review of rafiq, which helped me decide it.

Friends I live in the US when I visited India this april I saw the advertisement for XIII special.So I subscribed for 2 books with 2 DDs for 230 Rs each.
I havent received the books so far.Anyone can you please tell me whether the books are released??

Rafiq,

i think Comedy Colonel is the only issue of Clifton which was published in Mini Lion Comics. Eventhough it was of the highest quality, i was wondering why this particular series was not continued by Prakash Publishers.

The other one story issue was Kollaikara Car. That one also had a nice story pattern with wonderful comic situations blended with nice art work.

It's a good series, another feather in the cap of "Franco-Belgian comics" and Cinebooks. After a long time one feels that finally that the variety of english comics that we had in our childhood is returning, In the 1970's there was a lotof choice in India -from Harvey with it's Richie Rich, Spooky, Casper and Wendy along with Lotta and Hot Stuff, and Sad Sack,to Disney, and of course Indrajal and it's Phantom, Mandrake, Flash Gordon as well as Bahadur along with the DC superheroes and Commando,There were also Golden Key and Dell comics characters.
Then somehow from the 1980's we were for a long time restricted to just Tintin, Archie and Asterix, with all the variety having somehow gone.
Now there seems to be a revival on in India, and I for one am enjoying it
