@ GK: Thanks for those warm and encouraging comments. Beating Wikipedia may not be that easy, as that involves a lot of peoples contribution, and I am certainly not aiming for it :).

What I am trying to do is be free of any community-bound rules, and acts as a collator for all Comics news about a single title or comic character reviewed at Comicology. Happy that you liked it.

It's a most time-consuming affair, but I try to manage it between work and hobbies. Isn't comics our most cherished hobby of all? :)

By the way, I tried to do a glossary of comic titles or characters reviewed here at Comicology - Bibliography of Comicology. It's a humble beginning to say the least.

I hate to disappoint :-), but I am just an avid reader and fan of Comics in general, and Writing is too long a shot for me.... :) This blog is just an attempt to capture the imagination of a reader from my perspective. Good to hear you liked some, if not all of it :).

By the way, have you read Iznogoud before? If not, wait till the Euro Books mid July launch of 12 titles. Would be interested to know your side of story about this legendary cahracter here, whenever you find time.

All the time spent on exploring the background details and collecting info for each comic title, seems worthwhile when friends like you say that it was useful some way in them selecting their comics in their next shopping list. I will try to maintain the standard in the coming posts of Comicology. :)

Not only Iznogoud, there are many more. Keep exploring, and I will be happy to help you around with any buys from over here. Many of the Euro Books titles where still available when I last checked. For a complete list of them refer to this Label Euro BooksP.S.: New Spendings... I am already in that. Believe me, it's worth every penny to invest on these wonderful titles. They are a must for anyone who has a passion towards Comics.

just when u told me EURO BOOK going 2 publish this seeries wid LL,i have made my mind to buy a few titles...besides ur posts,the Origin it(Franco-Belgian Genre) attracts me a lot!!
Now,hopefully we'll see this in Indian market soon...

@ Alok/Toonfactory: Good to meet another Iznogoud fan, in you my friend. No wonders that this humorous characters legend's impression in found in many a characters across regions.

I only wish that the Euro Books upcoming Iznogoud bundles translation gives due credit to the humors associated with the series. A mere translation would be the greatest insult to the comic series. If they make it right, then it will be a Tribute to Goscinny & Tabary's marvelous work.

I believe you are referring to the Bob De Groot's Léonard series, which was once translated into an English album as "Leonardo is Still a Genius" in 1984. Have heard good reviews about the series, which is said to be a humorous take on the real Da Vinci.

But, I haven't still got a chance to read them yet, hopefully the CineBook which is so committed to bringing all Franco-Belgian comics goldies, would be translating these Gems to English, and would make them available in India. I am hoping for the best, as learning French for the series is out of equation for now :) Do you own the English version ?

By the way, CineBook did translate another gem of Bob de Groot, in the form of Clifton. Did you check them out? if not please follow the link to the post above. It's one of my favorites (like there aren't none :)). I would be updating that post soon with the creators info, to bring it in line with the recent posts trend :).

Beautiful post on Iznogoud one of my most fav. comic titles. My boss had a brilliant collection of real old Iznogouds, read some of them at his place. It inspired a lot of characters like Tantri The Mantri from Tinkle & Baankelaal series from Raj Comics.. Though both of them have tasted their share of fame but the humor created in Iznogoud by the master of funny writing Goscinny.

BTW have you ever checked out this other series called Leonardo was a Genius by Bob De Groot (if m not wrong)

@ Viji: Good to meet another fellow comics fan. Disney, Tom & Jerry are tailor made for Animation, but there are times when they are good even on the comics format. If you love Disney Comics, then you would love to check out this previous post, which talks about Disney's newer comics to be available in India sooner.

Good to know that you are also interested to explore Tamil Comics. There is only one comics baton which is active in that field, and is none other than Lion/Muthu Publisher's. Best way to get them is to subscribe. :) Enjoy Reading !!

சித்திர கதை எத்தர்களா...? :) 80-90 களிள் வந்த லயன் முத்து காமிக்ஸ் தலைப்புகள் போல இருக்கே.... நம்ம கனவுகளின் காதலரிடம் சொல்லி இதன் அடிப்படையில் ஒரு கதையை பிண்ண சொல்ல வேண்டும்.

ஈபிள் நாயகன் ஷங்கர்... ஆஹா, என்ன ஒரு அருமையான அடைமொழி..... நல்ல வேளை, இந்தியாவில் அவர் இருந்து இருந்தால் தாஜ் மகாலை அடிப்படையாக கொண்டு, "கல்லறை நாயகன்" என்று அழைத்து இருப்பீர்களோ... :)

@ Shankar: அன்பரே, உங்கள் கருத்துகளை எதிர்பார்த்து காத்திருந்தேன். இந்தியாவில் இஸ்நோகுட் தமிழை தவிர வேறு மொழியிலும் வெளியாகி இருப்பது எனக்கும் இந்த பதிவு இடும் வரை அறியா தகவலே. ஒரு பதிவை இட எண்ணி அதை பற்றி மட்டும் சிந்தித்து கொண்டு இணையங்களில் தேடும் போது எவ்வளவோ புதிய விஷயங்களை அறிந்து கொள்கிறோம் என்பதில் எந்த வித சந்தேகமும் இல்லை.

தலைவர்கள் கவிப்பதில் தான் உலகலாவிய விஷயமாயிற்றே.... பிரஞ்சு மக்குள் நம் ஜனங்களிடம் கற்க அதில் நிறைய விஷயங்கள் இன்னும் உள்ளன.

கதாசிரியர் தன் சுற்றி நடக்கும் விஷயங்களை கதைகருவுக்குள் அனாயசமாக சேர்த்திருப்பதிலேயே இஸ்நோகுட்டின் தொடரின் வெற்றி நிதர்சனமாக தெரிகிறது.

தமிழை போல ஆங்கில வெளியீடுகள் இருக்குமோ என்பது சந்தேகமே. கடமைக்கே என்று தான் மொழி பெயர்ப்பார்கள் என்று நம்புகிறேன்... பார்ப்போம்... இன்னும் 1, 2 மாதங்களிள் புத்தகங்கள் கிடைக்கும் என்று எண்ணுகிறேன்.

மே தினத்துடன் தலை கீழ் தினத்தை நீங்கள் ஒப்பிட்டது மிக அருமை. நிதர்சனம் அப்படி இருக்கையில் மாற்று கருத்து கூற என்ன இருக்கிறது :)

Iznogoud World is indeed a great source of information, from which I retrieved all the original covers used in the post, and had given a credit link at the end of the post. I have added a special mention about the site again in between the post, with a special mention about your contribution to the site. The site deserves a special place among all Iznogoud fans.

Well, I didn't include the Lion Ad before, since the story never came out, nevertheless have added a reference to it over here, since you have mentioned about it. :)

English DVDs of Iznogoud, is indeed on My Wanted list. Have heard great reviews about it so far.
